(Qadar). Destiny or Fate or the measure allotted to each entity. Qadar is the particularized deployment of the universal decree through the bestowal of existence upon the entities in accordance with the times and situations required by their individual preparedness. Destiny refers to the fact that each state of an entity is conditioned by a particular time and brought about by a specific cause.
(Qismat wal nasib). This expression indicates an acceptance of the events of everyday life in which Allah's Majesty or Beauty become manifest. This acceptance can pervade the Muslim with a tranquillity and patience which is so often misunderstood by outsiders. However, in saying 'qismat wa'l-nasib' one is merely verbally submitting to Allah's Will. Only when this compliance becomes a knowing compliance, in which the Muslim sees with his inner eye that everything is coming from Allah, can it truly transform his self.
